Redclaw tossed and turned in his nest, unable to sleep. Why can't I sleep, he thought? Was it this emptiness he felt in his heart? And why did he feel this? He had a fine kithood, he was made a warrior a least a moon earlier before he should have. What was he missing, and why did it leave this huge hole in his stomach? He couldn't take how uncomfortable it was in the den, so he left. He slipped out of the camp and walked around the forest, thinking about that feeling. Was he... Lonely? Was that why he couldn't stand to see queens, cooing at their kits with their mates? Don't get him wrong; he loved kits, and he loved to see queens in his camp, so he knows there will be new life in the Clan and for the forest. But he envied them. If only he could have a mate of his own, if only he could have kits of his own, to feel love once more. He sat down with a bump and sighed. If only.

Just Because I Say Something...A brown tabby she-cat made her way out of the camp, unable to sleep with the raging thoughts in her head. She let out a long sigh as she stretched and lashed her tail once. She was tempted to cause some trouble like the old days, but she was a leader now, so she could have a little bit of forbidden fun. She rolled her eyes, wishing desperately for someone to talk to. She was surprised that anyone was out. It seemed to early for any cat to be out, but then again, maybe some other cat had also had a nightmare, like her. She walked around a little more, paws dragging on the ground. She didn't have any doubt that she was a good leader now, but she still felt like she was missing something. She often pondered what it was, but could never put her claw on it. She saw a shape in the dark, and crouched low, thinking it was an enemy warrior. She crept forward, about to leap, at least until she realized it was a clanmate. "Hello Redclaw." she meowed smoothly, pretending like she hadn't been about to attack him. Doesn't Mean That It's True...

Redclaw jumped when he heard his leader's voice. He was so caught up in his own thoughts he hadn't heard her approach. "Oh, hello, Dawnstar. I didn't see you there. What brings you out here? It's very late..." Redclaw looked at Dawnstar, and remembered how much he loved her smile. It was so radiant, so beautiful. Redclaw snapped back into reality. What was he thinking? This was his leader, she probably only thought of him as a Clanmate, maybe not even a friend.

Just Because I Say Something...Dawnstar saw the tom jump, and she gave a sheepish smile. Maybe she shouldn't have stalked up like that, but she guessed that it was just instinct. "Oh, I couldn't sleep, that's all." she explained, flicking her tail like it was no big deal. It wasn't to her, seeing as she had nightmares often, and this one wasn't as bad as most were. She sat and curled her tail over her delicate paws, ears pricked forward in an alert position. "What are you doing up at this time of the night?" she asked, tilting her head ever so slightly to emphasize the question. Not many cats were up as late as she was, and they most likely didn't go out to the forest to comfort themselves like she did. No, this was usually something she only did. Or maybe others had and she just hadn't noticed it yet. The old leader gave a sigh and laid down, closing her eyes for just a second before opening them again. She was glad that she had someone to talk to, and maybe even someone who understood her. Doesn't Mean That It's True...

"Oh, I couldn't sleep either. It's just that I keep having this feeling. Like something's missing. I feel lonely, I guess. I've loved before, but she... Died." Redclaw choked out the last word, turning his head away so his leader couldn't see the pain he felt. "We were hoping to have wonderful kits one day, but then..." Redpaw cleared his throat and turned back to his leader, pushing the pain and loneliness to the back of his mind. "I feel so lonely without her, I just want to find someone else, someone that understands me like she did. I haven't been able to sleep since she died. I keep having horrible dreams about wars between the Clans, and she's in the middle. And every time, right before I wake up, she's attacked by the cats that were nearer to her, and she's... Gone." Redclaw looked at his leader, suddenly wishing he hadn't told her that.
