What was he to think? That being a medicine cat apprentice meant he couldn't have a relationship? It wasn't fair to him. What if some she-cat turned up and the worse happened: what if he fell in love? Everything would be so complicated! He wasn't allowed to have a mate or kits. He was frustrated. Why couldn't he just accept that? Was it possible that he had already fallen for a she-cat? Maybe one from his Clan? He didn't know. And if he did, he would have to deny it. His feelings and everything else that he loved. Why did being a medicine cat apprentice have to be so hard? Why was he asking himself questions he didn't know the answers to? Well, he knew that answer: he was an nervous idiot. A soft sigh escaped his maw and he sat down, totally drained, on the ground of the moor. This was usually his place of sanctuary, his place of thinking and forgetting his worries. Why couldn't he forget them now?
He could smell all sorts of prey, and he felt hungry. He didn't get up though. He still felt as though something was missing. He didn't know what it was though. Why couldn't he forget things easily? Oh look, I'm asking myself questions again. Fur bristled up as Fogpaw jumped up and clawed the ground. His claws left shallow gashes in the ground. He was weak, so they were shallower than most cats'. Feeling utterly defeated, he dropped to the ground and closed his eyes. He had never felt like this before; so strange and only half himself. Now he knew something was missing, but he still didn't know what it was. He thought of the worse. Am I not whole because I like someone? The thought crossed his complex mind. He didn't want to end up like his mentor, heartbroken. But he remembered that it wasn't Foxfur's mate's fault that she died. Maybe someone would come and help him through this. Or maybe if he did love somebody, they could be together. He let out a laugh. Why should he worry, no one would love him. Would they?

Hollypaw ran out of the camp as fast as she could. Her mentor had sent her hunting. But she had not wanted to hunt, she wanted to run through the territory as fast as she could. But she couldn't do that now. What would her mentor say if he had sent her out to hunt, only to see her bring back nothing and have her say, "Oh, I was running through the moorland instead." It would be stupid. And who knows, maybe she could run around the territory looking for prey. It might just work.
Having caught two rabbits, she decided to run around and do nothing more. She had alot of energy today. Running around the moor, she caught a glimpse of some bundle of fur lying down. What was it? Or rather, who was it? She walked cautiously towards the cat, sniffing the air. WindClan scent. It was Fogpaw! "Fogpaw? Are you ok? What's wrong?" She asked concerned. Why was he laying on the ground like that?

His head shot up as he heard a familiar voice. "Hollypaw?" he mewed. He was surprised that she was here, and the funny tingling feeling she gave him. When she was around, he was happier, and suddenly, he knew why. Oh StarClan! He was in love! "I... I'm fine." he stuttered. He wasn't. He knew this was against the code, and he began to try and calm himself. She probably doesn't even feel the same, he thought. He smiled at her.

Hollypaw smiled. But she still wondered why he was way out here. And laying on the ground. She couldn't think of anything else to say. "So whatcha doin?" She asked. Stupid question to ask aloud! He was probably looking for herbs or something. She had no idea what else to say. What else was there to say? She surely had no idea. She sat down as she waited for him to start talking. She neatly placed her tail over her paws. And flicked her ears nervously. Even though she had nothing to be nervous about.

Fogpaw didn't answer right away. "I'm not doing anything at the moment." he replied. It was true, he was doing nothing, well, except talking to her. He wished that he was a warrior apprentice for just awhile, and see what it was like to actually be allowed to love. Why was he thinking these things? He was a medicine cat apprentice for StarClan's sake!

"Oh. I would have though that you were out looking for herbs. Though I don't know why you would have been laying on the ground." She said teasingly. "I was just out hunting. I was trying to follow you or anything." She told him. She didn't him thinking she follows toms around. That would be odd. Much so. And she really wasn't into that kind of thing. It seemed odd. Following cats around. Why do it when you could just go up and talk to the cat?

"I guess I'm slacking off." he joked. He raised himself up into a sitting position. Wrapping his tail around his paws, he looked at the she-cat. A purr escaped his throat as she explained that she wasn't following him or anything like that. "How did the hunt go?" he asked.

Hollypaw laughed. "Well it went ok. I didn't really feel like hunting though. I just wanted to run. But I caught two rabbits." She told him. She really hoped he didn't think she was odd because she had saw him earlier. Usually, when a cat said that they didn't do something, then they said they were doing something else instead like she had, it was a clear sign that the cat really did do that. It made everything so much more complicated.

"That's good. Two rabbits must of taken up some of your energy." he meowed. Fogpaw didn't feel as nervous once he started talking to her. In fact, he felt.... excited. Even his blind eye seemed bright as he faced the WindClan she-cat.

Hollypaw shook her head. The rabbits had been slow, which was probably the only reason she had caught them. "Not really. I still have alot of energy left in me." She said with a laugh. She still really wanted to just run all over the moor. Talking right now seemed boring and she was getting restless and figitedy.

"Do you wanna run?" he asked. He knew the answer, but, he decided to just say it. Stupid reason, right? He stood up, stretching quickly. He wanted to run with her; he didn't want to feel alone again. Besides, he needed the exercise. "May I run with you?"

Hollypaw nodded. "I would love it if you ran with me!" She said. She flaxed her claws and made small holes in the earth. "Come on!" She said before turning away and running. "I bet you can't catch me!" She yelled over her shoulder. She ran even faster and waited to see whether Fogpaw could catch her.

Fogpaw shot off after Hollypaw, eyes gleaming with amusement. "I probably can't!" he meowed, but his voice was lost in the wind. Maybe the she-cat had heard anyway. Pushing himself to faster speeds, he kept her in his sight, but wasn't able to catch up to her. A smile formed on his face. This was fun.

Hollypaw laughed. She started to slow down so that Fogpaw could actually catch her. It wouldn't be very nice if She didn't give him a chance. "Keep trying." She yelled over her shoulder as she smiled. This was what she called clanmate bonding. And it wouldn't be that bad to make a new friend would it?

Letting out a laugh, he raced forward and somehow managed to catch up to the fast WindClan apprentice. Wind blowing through his fur, he attempted to leap forward and catch the she-cat, making sure his claws were sheathed before he tried to catch her. He didn't want to injure her in anyway. What a gentlemen.
